Evaluation
For this project we had to create 3 videos, a group video and two individual videos. I was in Wood group with Asma and Ruby. I chose to look at the Chiswick House Architectural Model as I will be studying Architecture next year at uni. The purpose was to educate people of the material, processes involved and the object. These videos would be on a website.
Initial sources of inspiriting were to look at the material in more detail, we scanned in images of wood grain from slices of wood and looked at form and pattern. Other than that I looked at the work of Claire Morgan to give me ideas for my object video. We had to learn how to use a lot of adobe creative cloud programs to edit our films and this took quite a while as I am not that confident with computers. We had some constraints such as the fact we had to use the V&A font wherever possible, this limited possibilities of creating huge amounts of typography etc.
I think I managed my time quite well during this project, however I spent a lot of time working on the computer and didn't document all of the changes in my book, this means that my book doesn't show a huge amount of development as we just changed things as we were editing without thinking about documenting it. I felt particularly challenged in this project due to the heavy reliance of computers, as said earlier I do not consider myself that confident with computer programs so this was something I struggled with and therefore wasted a lot of time.
I wasn't very pleased with how my process video turned out, it was a bit last minute and I didn't think properly about what message I wanted to get across, more so on just the aesthetic of the video, if I were to re do it I think I would spend longer on storyboarding.
I found that our research into our object was very informative as to how we wanted out videos to look, my object was very clean cut with a lot of straight lines, so I wanted my video to reflect these qualities.
I think as a group we spent a lot of time brainstorming ideas and developing new concepts however as I previously said I let myself down by not properly documenting any of these discussions, therefore my sketchbooks seems quite to the point. I used drawing to create a model which I films for my final piece. It was nice to work in a group and bounce ideas of each other.
I think our final piece looks very professional and clean. We spent a lot of time working together as a team on our group video and I think it really shows. I think we answered the brief well as a group however I believe my process video could have a had a clearer message, I was happy with the outcome of my object video though, I really enjoyed editing it and using new techniques such as shape tweens to highlight qualities in my object such as outline/structure.
I have learnt a lot about working in a team during this project.
